Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)CPI is an international training organization that specializes in the safe management of disruptive and assaultive behavior. CPI provides safe behavior management best practices and innovative resources to professionals around the world who are committed to creating safe and respectful work environments. Since 1980, more than 5.4 million individuals have participated in CPI's training programs. The strategies taught are recognized by many as the international standard for workplace violence prevention and intervention training. CPI’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training is based on the philosophy of providing the best Care, Welfare, Safety, and SecuritySM for everyone involved in a crisis situation. The program focuses on prevention and offers proven strategies for resolving situations when confronted by anxious, hostile, or violent behavior. During the program, participants learn how to de-escalate potentially dangerous behavior and how to most safely intervene should physical restraint techniques become necessary. The PrepareTraining® program is a highly effective, adaptable training that utilizes CPI’s proven methods for managing disruptive and aggressive behavior. With a core philosophy of Respect, Service, and Safety at Work®, the strategies taught in the program can assist in strengthening and preserving relationships with coworkers and customers and aid in service recovery when problematic situations have damaged customer relations. CPI also addresses important workplace issues that impact the safety and well-being of employees, visitors, guests, and coworkers with the CPI Matters at Work seminar series. In 2009, Dementia Care Specialists, Inc. became a division of CPI.
